Donna Cross is our Type-2 Diabetes Advisor for GWA. Donna was diagnosed with Type-2 Diabetes in 2018. Deciding that this illness was an unwelcome visitor in her life, she decided to make significant lifestyle changes. In 11 months, Donna removed all medications from her body, and successfully reversed her Diabetes.
Our relationship with Donna began in the spring of 2020, when she signed on as a Brand Ambassador for our first incarnation of our app, DMP. Donna wrote articles about her journey to wellness and tips to reversing diabetes, engaged in social media work to promote the app, and was featured in livestreams and promotional videos. In the fall of 2021, Donna signed on as a Type-2 Diabetes Advisor for GWA to give assistance wherever needed with her vast knowledge of this chronic illness and the diabetic community. She also assists in copywriting and editing tasks whenever necessary.
Donna is also an Usui-Tibetan Enhanced and Holy Fire III Reiki Practitioner, offering her Reiki healing services through Diastronghealth and in private practice.
Donna lives in Exeter, New Hampshire, USA with her husband and two college-aged children.
Samantha (Sami) Parker is a young woman with a strong passion for health, wellness, and diabetes. Growing up dancing and diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 12, Sami wants to make a positive influence and impact in the diabetes community. Recently graduating from Pepperdine University with a Bachelors in Sports Medicine, she is continuing her education by getting a Masters in Exercise Physiology from Concordia University Chicago. Dealing with diabetes herself, Sami wishes to serve as an exercise physiologist, diabetes educator, and optimistic resource for those struggling with this condition. She currently holds the title of the Just My Type podcast co-host and serves the Team with an insightful and outgoing new pair of eyes.
Dobie Maxwell is one of our Type 2 Advisors at GWA and has lived a most remarkable life. Born in Milwaukee, WI to motorcycle gang parents, he has been a professional touring comedian and morning radio host since 1985. He has appeared on CBS TV’s “The Late Late Show” among too many other local and regional TV and radio shows to count. He is the only known comedian to be heckled by Donald Trump (true story) and is the author of the true crime story “Monkey in the Middle” which is currently being negotiated into being a feature film. Before comedy, Dobie had a tryout with the Kansas City Royals baseball team and has been a sports memorabilia collector for decades. He is left handed, signs his name backwards and his birthday is March 14th.
Jack Mcknernan is a Social Media Advisor for GWA. Jack lives in Boston, Massachusetts where he’s currently studying at Boston University for a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Jack enjoys content creation as a way to connect with new people as well as make them smile and laugh. Jack was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 9, and have always enjoyed meeting other diabetics and hearing their story.
